At Milton Park Primary School we believe that the teaching of Geography should stimulate children’s interest, and develop their knowledge of the world we live in. We use a variety of sources for children to interpret, and children present their work in a number of different ways. We aim to help children to develop their geographical fieldwork skills and apply these (for example by going on school trips) in order to deepen their understanding of geographical processes and features. Geography lessons include opportunities for children to practice their skills in literacy and numeracy.

We develop children’s ability to ask questions, seek answers, and suggest solutions to issues that affect them. We aim to install a sense of wonder at the beauty of the world around them.

Some of our current Geography topics across the school include Rainforests, Volcanoes and Earthquakes, Portsmouth, World Weather and Rivers and Mountains.
