Curriculum

At Milton Park we know that PE plays an important role in the development of our young children. PE leads to improved fitness, health and well-being, concentration, attitude and academic achievement. It can help children to

  • Raise their achievement
  • Excel in different areas
  • Build self esteem
  • Work as part of a team
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities
  • Develop a healthy lifestyle
  • Experience healthy competition and learn to cope with life’s successes and defeats.
  • Strive to improve
  • Be responsible for themselves and others.

Through PE children can develop Milton Park’s values of: Achievement, Success, Progress, Independence, Respect and Enthusiasm.

We aim to encourage a lifelong love of sport and keeping fit which allows the children to be the best that they can be.

Each year group use a newly purchased scheme of work called Real PE. It allows the children to develop their skills in agility, balance and co-ordination and apply them in various situations. Alongside this our children work closely with coaches from Pompey in the Community to further enhance and develop their skills across differing games.

We also work closely with the Portsmouth School’s Partnership and through this, all our teachers have had training in the teaching of gymnastics from a qualified gym coach.
